It’s dark when Marianne Erhardt arrives at the little green cottage and starts warming the oven of her cozy kitchen to bake cinnamon rolls, raspberry strudel and scones filled with crystallized ginger and fresh lemon zest along with muffins and cream cheese coffeecake. These signature treats will be paired with blends of coffee that are roasted right at her Morning Glory Coffee shop. Green Tanzanian beans are roasted by Paul Schneider in a specially formatted roaster that shares a place in the ever-changing, mindfully decorated dining area. The robust aromas of coffee, mouth-watering baked goods and savory quiches linger until lunch, when homemade soups and sandwiches are served. Also, specials including yummy baked oatmeal are served to the friendly customers, who can also purchase special lunch takeout boxes that include a surprise tasty sweet treat. Visitors also look forward to being greeted by the coffee shop’s friendly doorman, a calm Samoan dog with a big fluffy coat. Conversation is sparked by this charming mascot who has watched many people pass by to gather and celebrate special occasions ranging from birthdays and weddings to retirements and reunions amidst the timeless atmosphere and quaint setting of Morning Glory Coffee. It is this combination of attention to detail, delicious delights and friendly familiar faces that gives the Morning Glory its charm. Even after the last cup of coffee is brewed, the pleasant memory and simple joys that were felt still remain.
