Owners Dave and Melanie Sobelman have transformed an after-work gathering place in what was once an industrial part of the city into one of the friendliest and cleanest pubs around. Their beautiful renovation won the Mayor's Urban Design Award. When Dave and Melanie opened the restaurant in 1999, they set out to lay claim to the distinction of having the best burgers in town. At first Dave was hesitant to take on the long, demanding hours of restaurant work, but armed with some previous restaurant experience, he finally took the plunge. He decided to feature burgers and challenged a local entertainment paper to come in for a taste. The restaurant was reviewed the very next week and since then, The Milwaukee Journal, oldmilwaukee.com and City Lifestyles magazine have all given enthusiastic reviews.
